Settings & Appearance
AEM provides two ways to access settings: a Settings pane that you can open anywhere in the workspace, and a quick settings dropdown in the navigation bar for frequently changed preferences.
Accessing settings
Settings pane
Add a Settings pane to your workspace by clicking the + button on any tab bar, then selecting Settings from the System group. The full Settings pane contains all trading preferences, the market timezone selector (if you have the required permission), and the complete theme editor.
Quick settings (navbar)
Click the gear icon (⚙) at the top-right of the navigation bar to open a compact settings dropdown. This provides quick access to the Aggress with selector and the Close ticket upon submit toggle without opening a full pane.
Trading preferences
Aggress click side
The Aggress with setting controls which mouse button opens the order ticket when you click a price cell in the Price Grid.
| Option | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Left click | Left-clicking a price cell opens the pre-filled order ticket |
| Right click | Right-clicking a price cell opens the pre-filled order ticket |
Choose Right click if you want left-click to be a safe, non-committing action (useful during fast markets). The setting is available in both the Settings pane and the quick settings dropdown.
Close ticket upon submit
When enabled, the order ticket closes automatically after you submit an order. When disabled, the ticket stays open so you can submit another order immediately.
Toggle Close ticket upon submit in either the Settings pane or the quick settings dropdown.
Font size
The Font size setting scales the text throughout the interface. Three sizes are available:
| Option | Use case |
|---|---|
| Small | High-density displays or smaller monitors |
| Normal | Default; suits most setups |
| Large | Improved legibility on large screens or for accessibility |
Select the size in the Trading section of the Settings pane. The change applies immediately.
Market timezone
The Market timezone selector is only visible to users with the Market.Config.View permission. It is not shown to standard traders.
The timezone selector sets the reference timezone used for market session times displayed across the platform. Changes take effect for all users who connect after the setting is saved.
Theme editor
The theme editor lets you override individual colour variables to personalise the interface. It is available in the lower section of the Settings pane.
Selecting a preset
Four built-in presets are available:
| Preset | Description |
|---|---|
| Default Dark | Standard dark theme (no overrides) |
| Midnight Blue | Deep navy background with blue accent |
| Green Terminal | Dark green palette, classic trading terminal aesthetic |
| High Contrast | Maximum contrast with white text and vivid colours |
Click a preset name to apply it immediately. The active preset is highlighted with an accent border. Applying a preset replaces all current overrides.
Customising individual colours
Colour variables are grouped into six categories:
| Group | Variables |
|---|---|
| Background | Main Background, Panel Background, Panel Alternate |
| Borders | Border, Subtle Border |
| Text | Primary Text, Secondary Text, Muted Text |
| Trading | Bid, Bid Background, Bid Hover, Ask, Ask Background, Ask Hover |
| Status | Success, Warning, Danger |
| Accent | Accent, Accent Hover |
To change a colour, click the colour swatch next to the variable name. The system colour picker opens. Select a colour and the change applies live.
When a variable has been overridden from the preset default, a small reset icon (↺) appears next to it. Click that icon to restore the variable to the preset's value without affecting other overrides.
You can mix presets and manual overrides. Start with a preset, then fine-tune individual variables to your preference.
Exporting a theme
To share or back up your current theme configuration:
- In the Theme section header, click the download icon.
- The theme JSON is copied to your clipboard.
Paste it into a text file or share it directly with a colleague.
Importing a theme
To apply a theme received from someone else:
- Click the upload icon in the Theme section header.
- An input field appears. Paste the theme JSON.
- Click Apply.
The theme applies immediately. If the JSON is invalid, nothing changes.
Resetting to default theme
Click the reset icon (↺) in the Theme section header to clear all overrides and return to the Default Dark preset.
Settings and workspaces
Your settings are bundled with saved workspaces. When you save a named workspace, the current theme, aggress click preference, and close-ticket behaviour are all included. Loading a saved workspace restores those settings alongside the pane layout.
See Workspace Management for details on saving and loading workspaces.
