View Modes

AEM provides two view modes — Trader and Market Maker — that determine which panes and tabs are available in the workspace. Switching modes immediately changes the interface without affecting your open orders or any other platform state.

Trader Mode

Trader mode is the default. It is designed for participants who place and manage orders on the market. The following tabs are available in the bottom panel:

TabPurpose
OrdersView and manage your working, held, and historical orders
FillsReview your executed trades and fill history
CreditView your credit utilisation and counterparty limits
AdminPlatform administration (visible only if you have admin-level permissions)

In Trader mode, the Curve Manager and Compliance Dashboard panes are not accessible from the content type menu.

Market Maker Mode

Market Maker mode adds tools for participants with quoting obligations. The following tabs are available:

TabPurpose
CurveCurve Manager — bulk-enter bid/ask quotes across profiles
ComplianceCompliance Dashboard — monitor market-making obligations
OrdersView and manage your working, held, and historical orders
CreditView your credit utilisation and counterparty limits
AdminPlatform administration (visible only if you have admin-level permissions)

The Curve and Compliance tabs are only usable if your account also holds the Market.Trade permission. If your account lacks that permission, both tabs display an access message rather than their content.

note

The Curve Manager and Compliance Dashboard are also available as panes you can open in any workspace panel — not just via the tabs. The Content Type menu in a panel header filters these options based on your permissions.

How to Switch Modes

The mode switcher is located in the navigation bar at the top of the screen. It is not a dropdown — the available tabs update immediately when you click the other mode.

There is no separate save step. The change takes effect as soon as you select the new mode.

Mode Persistence

Your selected view mode is saved to your browser's local storage and restored the next time you open AEM. If you switch between devices or browsers, each session maintains its own saved preference.

tip

If you share a workstation with colleagues, each person should check their view mode when starting a session, as the persisted setting may reflect the previous user's preference.

Permissions and Mode Availability

Both modes are available to any authenticated user. However, the Market Maker-specific tabs (Curve and Compliance) require the Market.Trade permission to display their content. Users without that permission can still switch to Market Maker mode — they simply will not be able to use the Curve Manager or Compliance Dashboard.

The Admin tab appears in both modes, but only for users who hold at least one of: Users.Manage, Invitations.View, or Market.Config.View.
